Ready For Christmas

Thanksgiving is over and our son and daughter-in-law are back in Iowa. We're going to North Dakota for Christmas with our daughter so I'm not putting up all the Christmas decor that I usually do. My mother-in-law made me a ceramic Christmas tree that lights up so I will put that out and a few other favorite decorations.
We had snow today but not a lot, just enough to make things messy. Hopefully it won't get cold enough to freeze tonight. I have to make my trek out to the country tomorrow morning for my Mon-Wed family and I like nice dry roads!
Let's remember that Christ is a big part of Christmas and Jesus is the reason for every Christmas season!!!

Let's All Keep Praying

Considering the outcome of our presidential election, we still need to keep praying! Pray that our new president will allow our God in Heaven to guide and direct him.

Today is Veteran's Day and we need to remember all our military heroes that gave their lives for our safety and freedom. Also keep praying for all our active military who are also keeping us safe and free.

Precious Lord, take my hand...

One Minute Each Night

One Minute Each Night.....
This is the scariest election, we as Christians have ever faced, and from the looks of the polls, Christians aren't voting Christian value. We all need to be on our knees.
Do you believe we can take God at His word? Call upon His name, then stand back and watch His wonders to behold. Scripture gives us, as Christians, ownership of this land and the ability to call upon God to heal it. I challenge you to do so. We have never been more desperate than now for God to heal our land.
This election is the scariest I remember in my lifetime. 2 Chronicles 7:14...'If My people, who are called by My name, shall humble themselves and pray, and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.'
During WWII, there was an advisor to Churchill who organized a group of people who dropped what they were doing every night at a prescribed hour for one minute to collectively pray for the safety of England , it's people and peace. This had an amazing effect as bombing stopped. There is now a group of people organizing the same thing here in America .
The United States of America and our citizens need prayer more than ever!!!
If you would like to participate, each evening at 9:00 P.M Eastern Time, 8:00 P.M. Central Time, 7:00 P.M Mountain Time 6:00 P. M. Pacific Time..... stop whatever you are doing and spend one minute praying for the safety of the United States , our Troops, our Citizens, for peace in the world, the upcoming election, that the Bible will remain the basis for the laws governing our land and that Christianity will grow in the USA .
If you know any who would like to participate, please pass this along. Someone said if people really understood the full extent of the power we have available through prayer, we might be speechless. Our prayers are the most powerful asset we have.
Thank you. Please pass this on to anyone you think will want to join us.God Bless You!!!

I'm Back!!!

It's been hot here and our air conditioner has been running steadily. I thank God for that every day. Our neighbors of over 15 years moved to Idaho and boy do we miss them! The new residents haven't moved in yet so it's strangely dark and quiet over there. School is going to start in a couple of weeks so our humble city will be jolted back to routine again. Stay away from the high school area at 3:15 as that's when school is dismissed and those kids come roaring out of the parking lots and tear down the streets!

"The unexpected courtesy, the thoughtful, kindly deed,
A hand reached out to help us when we find ourselves in need -
Oh, make us more aware, dear God, of little daily graces
That come to us with sweet surprise from never-dreamed-of places." -Helen Steiner Rice

It's Been Too Long!

I was going to stay on task with this blog but as you can tell I haven't been doing that. It's been a dreary month and I hope that the months that follow will be brighter and cheerier. There's been a lot going on that will hopefully resolve itself eventually.
I guess that's all I have to say right now so I'll close.

"Life is not defined by what you have, even when you have a lot." Luke 12:15

What a Memorable Wet Wedding

The wedding in Fargo was very wet! It was outside at a place called "A Friend's House". They have wonderful accommodations for outdoor weddings but nothing in case of inclimate weather. We all sat outside in the rain, got soaking wet but did get inside the barn for the reception. This is definitely a wedding that we won't forget!

Tomorrow is the 4th of July, our Independance Day! Our son and his wife (she's from England) are coming tonight to spend the holiday with us. She is very excited as this is the first time she's celebrated this holiday. As you can guess, the British don't acknowledge July 4th as anything special. We will be going to our local lake for the fireworks tomorrow evening.

Just a short word about our upcoming presidential election. Remember to vote for the candidate based on what kind of plan is outlined. Everyone is talking about "change" and we need to know what this "change" is going to be. "Change" needs to be explained. Tune in to Bill O'Reilly for a fair and balanced look at politics.

Tomorrow, the 4th of July, OUR Independance Day, celebrate it and remember our "HEROES" that are fighting to keep us free! Freedom comes at a price, freedom IS NOT free. We have to fight for it! Patrick Henry once said, "United we stand, divided we fall." We need to stick together and defend our country for us and all our children and grandchildren and great grandchildren. God Bless America, land that I love, God Bless America OUR home sweet home.

It's Been HOW LONG???!!!

The past 6-8 weeks we have had rain and rain and rain! Our grass looks great! We've mowed about 3 times every 2 weeks. Finally we've had a week or 2 of dry days so the farmers are getting back in their fields again and my husband is back delivering seed fast and furious.

My daughter-in-law got her drivers license! And on the very first try! For those of you who don't know, she is English so grew up driving on the left side of the road instead of the right.

My daughter's thyroid came out fine. It was huge but healthy. She goes back for her post op this week and she says she is feeling just fine! We'll be back in ND at the end of the month for a friend's wedding.

I might be getting a new family with 3 kiddies! They have a baby that is just 8 weeks old! Fun! That would make 3 families and I would be kept pretty busy.

I'm sick of the presidential campaigns already, can't we just vote now and get it over with? I'm a conservative Republican and proud of it.

We need to keep God in our country. We need to keep God in our hearts. We need God, period.

I Think Spring Has Sprung!

We are hoping that spring is finally here! We've had several days of warmer weather and our furnace has NOT kicked in!

Things have been pretty busy here. My husband has been running seed all over so he gets up and leaves early and gets home late. We will both be happy to have all the seeding done and get back to regular hours!

There's just not anything really exciting going on which is ok. Boring can be great sometimes!

Remember your mother, it's Mother's Day on Sunday!

Our April Showers Blizzard

We had snow all day yesterday! It started early and went on until after dark. Schools were closed, roads were closed, almost everything was closed. It 's wet and heavy so it will melt quickly, today it's 45 degrees and you can really see it go. I'll post pictures.

I turned 60 this month and I really don't feel like it. I woke up that morning and it felt just like any other morning so I got up and got going! It is true that you are only as old as you feel.

My daughter's surgery was postponed. She developed strep to her surgery is now on May 21.

Not much else going on. Our snow is quickly melting so I suppose our spring flowers will be up and at 'em soon. Then yard work starts:-( and the mower comes out. It is good excersize but oh so hot in the summer!

Remember that tomorrow is Sunday! I'll see you in church!

Are We In For Another Storm...It's Snowing!!!

Just watching it snow, big wet sloppy flakes, probably won't even stick but it's making everything a wet mess! Our last 4 days have been nice and warm, around 65 degrees. What a downer this is.

This is one of those lazy days when you just want to wrap up in a blankie and veg! No energy at all. I've watched Les Miserables a couple of times, it's got such good music! Wish I could see it in London in the Royal Albert Hall with the original London cast. Colm Wilkinson and Philip Quast put on a wonderful preformance!

I've switched to Willie Wonka and the Chocolate Factory with Gene Wilder and then Charlie and the Chocolate Factory with Johnny Depp is on next. There's such a difference between the two shows. The Gene Wilder on is FUN and the Johnny Depp on is on the dark side.

Still snowing so I'll just cuddle up more and hunker down for more tv!

Rest in the Lord!

It's Been A Long Time!

Since my last post we have been to Iowa to visit our son and daughter-in-law, to North Dakota to visit our daughter and back to Iowa for Easter. We got snowed in in Iowa for a day but did make it home safely. There was more snow in North Dakota. We went to Grand Forks to a Fighting Sioux vs St. Cloud hockey game. It was a tie but a very good game. The Engelstad Arena is marvelous!

We spent Easter in Iowa last year and again this year. My daughter-in-law and I went shopping on Saturday and had a super time. We didn't buy much but had a grand time just looking around. We had ham for Easter dinner and everyone ate way too much!

Upon arriving at home, we were greeted by a leaking hot water heater. We now have a brand new one that does not leak.

There is more snow in our forecast and we just lost what we had. Yes, I guess it is spring as the snow keeps falling.

A smile is a language understood by all persons.

Has it been that long...

Wow, didn't realize that it had been over a month since my last entry! Well, my daughter-in-law is here, legally with a social security # and a green card. It took a year but at least she won't be sent back to England! We're planning to visit them the end of this month and we'll probably be there for Easter, too.

Our weather has been cold and with the gas prices up we're spending a small fortune on heat. At least we're warm.

I spend all morning in the ER a couple of weeks ago. I had a horrible nose bleed and the big guns had to be called in. Our local ENT came in and zapped me a few times to get it to stop. We now sleep with a humidifier in the bedroom and my husband says it has even improved my snoring. What a deal! I think I'm sleeping better, too.

To day is Ash Wednesday so I hope most of you will either attend a church service this evening or give some deep thought to the meaning of Lent. What are you giving up for Lent? I think I will give up desserts. I need to get back in the swing at Weight Watchers, too plus go back to Curves. My body is starting to rebel against all the bad things I have been doing to it. Better choices when eating and more exercise are definitely the things I need to work on.

Oh, I got a new phone, a LG enV and it's orange!

God is here, celebrate, fill the world with joy. Dance your dance, sing your song,
Fill the world with joy!
